WHO WE ARE
THE FUND FOR PUBLIC ADVOCACY PROMOTES THE PUBLIC GOOD BY ENGAGING NEW YORK CITY RESIDENTS IN POLICY MAKING AND PROGRAMS THAT MAKE GOVERNMENT MORE ACCOUNTABLE, CREATIVE, RESPONSIVE AND TRANSPARENT
The Fund for Public Advocacy was formed by the Office of the New York City Public Advocate, an elected position, unique to NYC government and second in command to the Mayor. Since our nonprofit incorporation in 2002, we have worked “for the purposes of increasing citizen participation in the municipal process; to acknowledge and support the leadership and assets found in all communities; to lessen neighborhood tensions; to eliminate systemic oppression, racism and discrimination and to combat community deterioration in the City. As a 501(c)3, the Fund raises public and private funds, builds community and partnerships to achieve our goals.
